Okay I know I haven’t blogged in forever but now is better than never

Well I’m not so sick of moving since I haven’t done it that much.. but I am getting sick of not being able to find things since a lot of stuff is still in boxes. I’m having a hard time unpacking because we don’t have a place for everything like we did in our old apartment- which had built in shelves in such. Also let me remind everyone that I came into this marriage with nothing but my car filled with clothes/kitchen supplies/wedding gifts and i think that’s about it. So when i look through all these boxes I shake my head. One thing is for sure, if the end of the world does happen in 2012 you should stick with Ty. It’s like a preparation for Red Dawn in our guest room. I’m trying my best to move him along with going through it all and get rid of anything we don’t use- or have too many copies of them. But I have a feeling I’ll never get him to part.

Earlier this week I told myself, and to Ty, that I don’t want to live in bachalor pad looking apartment. We do want new couches, a new entertainment center, bedroom set, dinning room table, rugs, haha am I forgetting anything else? I figure I can try to sell the couches and the extra frig we have, the small dinning table,  and maybe anything else that people would want. But I don’t have an idea about how to do this right.  Ebay? CraigsList? any tips would help.

We’re getting closer!

We are at the 2 week mark till we move and we have to get organized! Even though the movers will be packing and loading everything for us.. I still need to get everything in order.

According to my book here I need to:

1. arrange and close any bank accounts that I have since certain states have different rules.

2. Get our cars inspected, change the oil, and just make sure they will operate well over the 4 LONG day drives. Also weigh them so that we can get allowances from the army.

3. Start on our change of address forms.

4. Have our kitchen pantry/refrigorganized so we know what to eat and what we can pack. I hate throwing away food so our neighbor said that whatever we have left over he’ll take. Sounds good to me!

5. Clean out our closet/ bathroom/guest room (that one might be tricky since Ty doesn’t like throwing away any of this stuff)

6. Pick up all my medical forms

As of now Ty and I are driving both our cars. Even though I researched my heart out about finding a good deal on transporting his car.. we will still be wasting more money that way. My car is actually only a 4 cylinder so it can’t tow his. And even if it could- we would eating up more gas.  So can good driving music suggestions would be great =)

Give Thanks!

My first thanksgiving all on my own. The cool part is everything on my table was $5 or less except the table runner which is so pretty! I didn’t think i did half bad. I cooked for 2-3 hours and Ty ate dinner in five minutes. I didn’t do any special dessert this year but that was a good day.

I had an excuse to use my glitter candles ❤

A Merry Little Christmas

We just found out that we going to have a very humble Christmas. Ty talked with the movers about when they can come get our things (army provides movers to pack up our stuff and get it out there) and since it’s around the holidays.. well.. they will be coming on the 22nd of December. All we will have is what we can fit in my car. The army can no longer transport a car along with our things if you are stationed in the United States. So we will look into a civilian transportation of Ty’s car to NC. Please pray something can come through with that! Driving 2-4 days straight is hard enough. I will still have a christmas tree- the army can’t take that away from me! I can still celebrate Christmas even without a bed or microwave.

Chicken vs. Turkey

Vs.

For those who haven’t spent much time with Ty, you need to know that he only eats chicken. The occaissional  hamburger  and shrimp slips in but other wise Ty eats chicken almost every single day.  In about 10 days thanksgiving will be here. I haven’t even gone shopping for the day! This will be my first thanksgiving without any family but maybe with a friend or two. Good chance it might just be Ty and I but either way I need to get going on a meal plan. So I tell Ty about my ideas of a fun, maybe non traditional foods or ways of making the food. The first thing he says to me is “Do we have to have turkey? Whaaaaaa?  It’s called Turkey Day for a reason. Only because society says we have to eat turkey that day. NOooo.. the pilgrims said we have to.” I only eat turkey (from the bird not deli meat) on Thanksgiving. My traditions might change since I have my own marriage and family, one day, but the turkey will not go. The battle is on!!

    Serving Size

  1. This guide uses the USDA given numbers for 100 grams of breast meat for both chicken and turkey. This guide assumes raw breast meat that still has the skinin tact, and has yet to be cooked.
  2. Calories

  3. Turkey is the low-calorie option when looking for the lowest calorie count. One serving of turkey has 125 calories, while one serving of chicken has 172.
  4. Fat

  5. Chicken has more fat, per serving, than turkey. One serving of chicken has 9 grams of fat, while turkey only has 3 grams. To remove more fat from the food, remove the skin from the breast.
  6. Cholesterol

  7. Chicken has a slight advantage over turkey when considering cholesterol intake. One serving of turkey has 23 percent of your daily recommended allowance, while chicken has only 21 percent.
  8. Protein

  9. Turkey has more protein per serving than chicken. One serving of turkey has 24 grams of protein, while chicken has 21 grams.

Making a list…

It’s not even the middle of November yet I am planning for Christmas. I have found that it is sooo much more enjoyable to give people presents when they are right next to you. You buy/make the gift, wrap it up in pretty paper and hope to see a big smile to light up their face. Now this will be my first Christmas without any family (still trying to get used to the thought) so I must send gifts through the mail. The trick is you end up spending anywhere from $40-$100 in shipping fees. I am trying to find a slick ninja way to pull this off so that’s why I’m starting now. Many people, including a certain someone, thinks that christmas is just an excuse to spend money. Although I do not consider Christmas a hallmark holiday, such as Valentines day, but I am looking forward to the challenge of sending nice gifts to my lovely family members.

PB100367 Here are my sunglasses that I have owned for at least 3 years.. by the way they were $12. They are peeling on the sides and scratched in every way possible. New sunglasses are on the top of my list. Honestly I wouldn’t know what kind of glasses look good on my face. Any suggestions would help

Also I just got done reading my new book and I feel so enlighten. I think every woman should read this and you’ll be surprised with what you learn. I am not embarrassed to talk about this subject since it is so important! It is a pretty thick biology book and very worth your time. You would be learning so much about how God created your body. Whether you are trying to get pregnant or trying out a natural way of birth control (what I’m doing) or simply wanting answers to why you feel the way you do, you’ll benefit. There are side effects to everything you put in your body esp birth control. Some women do need it for pain control or regulating themselves but your chances of health problems increase. Do you really want to risk yourself of having infections, breast cancer or osteoporosis? There are more cancers present today than I can count. So many of them are from toxins. Why not take some time and look for a different route. You’ll be happy you did.
